Coastal Rides is the first ride-hailing service on the Sunshine Coast. Through the Coastal Rides app, we deliver a world-class experience while providing a local service that meets the needs of our community. Coastal Rides operates on the Sunshine Coast, in the Comox Valley, and on Texada Island. By working with local drivers and transportation companies in the communities we service, we are striving to provide safe, affordable, and sustainable transportation service.
Ultimately, our focus is to deliver shared or pooled rides so we can serve as many riders as possible with the fewest vehicle kilometers travelled.
Coastal Rides received approval from the Passenger Transportation Board to operate as a Transportation Network Service in areas 3 and 5, received on February 28, 2020. We have strict protocols in place to ensure that drivers adhere to all passenger transportation regulations.

A note from Coastal Rides’ founder.
I started Coastal Rides with the goal of making travel to and throughout the Sunshine Coast accessible to everyone—not just those with access to a vehicle. The unique coastal geography of the Sunshine Coast is what makes our home so special, but it can make getting around challenging. In one of my early visits to the coast, I remember missing the bus because the ferry was a few minutes late. Coastal Rides is a viable alternative to transportation on the Sunshine Coast. It gives people the freedom to move around without having to bring or rent a car. For locals, it’s a safe and affordable option to enjoy a night out without worrying about how they’ll get home. For drivers, it’s the opportunity for flexible work and a chance to help their community. My goal is to make the Sunshine Coast a more livable, accessible place. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
After being approached by people in other communities, like the Comox Valley and Prince George, we decided to try to work with locals in other places to help launch similar locally focused services.
