How to Get Around the Comox Valley With Coastal Rides

2024-03-12

The Comox Valley, which includes Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland, is one of Vancouver Island’s most popular destinations. But how do you get around the area without a vehicle?

This is where Coastal Rides can help. A local ridesharing company, we offer short-haul trips (similar to local taxis), only our rides are just a few clicks away. We also offer long-haul trips across Vancouver Island, so if you’re needing to get from Comox to Nanaimo, we’ve got you covered.

Below, learn how to get around the Comox Valley without a car, and how to book a rideshare with Coastal Rides:

1. Short-Haul Trips Around Town

From grocery hauls to designated drivers, Coastal Rides’ drivers offer a quick ride whenever you need it. Skip the hassle of driving, ensure you have a safe ride home at night, or avoid long-term parking fees at the ferry or airport when you travel.

2. Ferry Pick-Up and Drop-Off Between Comox and Powell River

Powell River and the Comox Valley are separated by the Strait of Malaspina. Luckily, we operate on both sides of the strait, meaning you can easily explore either destination and all without having to bring your vehicle on the ferry. If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway away, get there easily with Coastal Rides. We can drop you off at BC Ferries’ Little River terminal in Comox, or on the Powell River side at BC Ferries’ Westview terminal

3. Access Mt. Washington and other Popular Tourist Destinations

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is a big draw for the area, and for good reason. With skiing in the winter, and mountain biking and hiking in the summer, there’s plenty to discover here year-round. Hit the slopes in winter (we can take you and your gear), or get a ride to the trailhead and save the planning for your hike instead.

4. Safely Explore the Comox Valley’s Breweries

Comox Valley’s brewery (and food and drink) scene is excellent, with multiple craft breweries scattered between downtown Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox. And that’s not all. You’ll find wineries, distilleries, and a plethora of highly-rated restaurants all within easy rideshare distance, meaning you’re never far from a good meal or delicious pint. What to check out? Gladstone Brewing and Land & Sea Brewing in Courtenay, Ace Brewing and Rad Brewing in Comox, and Cumberland Brewing Co. in Cumberland. For food, local favourites include Gigi’s and Boonie’s Pizza in Comox, Riders Pizza in Cumberland, Il Falcone in Courtenay, and many others.

5. Airport Shuttles to Comox Valley Airport

YQQ is a regional airport, servicing both the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas, along with outlying communities, from Sayward to Qualicum Beach. Planning to fly in or out of the Comox Airport? We provide reliable airport shuttles, whether you’re a local returning home from vacation, or a visitor just startings yours.
