Yes. All drivers are required to pass criminal background checks, safe driving checks, and have their vehicles inspected every 6 to 12 months as commercial vehicles.
We currently serve the Sunshine Coast (Port Mellon to Egmont), Comox Valley, Campbell River, Port Alberni, Tofino, Ucluelet, Nanaimo, Fort St. John and Powell River. For long-distance intercity trips, check availability in the app.
Yes. In the app, after entering your trip details, select "Schedule" to choose your date and time. Advanced bookings over 6 days will initially show a $0 fare. Confirm bookings within 6 days to see accurate fare estimates.
Vehicle capacity depends on available drivers. Some vehicles can accommodate up to 9 or 14 passengers, especially on the Sunshine Coast. Always select the correct number of passengers in the app when booking.
Yes, some drivers have bike racks. After entering your trip details, use the filter option to add the number of bikes to your request.
All children under 9 require proper child seats. Drivers do not provide car seats for young children but some have booster seats for children over 5. Use the filter option to request booster seats.
Yes, most drivers allow pets. Confirm with your driver after booking, and bring a blanket or towel for your pet.
You may share your ride if you select a shared ride option. Always indicate the number of passengers in your group to ensure seating availability.
All payments are processed in-app via credit card. Your card is pre-authorized when booking and charged after your ride. Drivers cannot accept payments in the vehicle. If using a prepaid card, we recommend using a fare card for easier cancellations and refunds.
Yes. Tips can be added in the app after your ride. Drivers may also accept cash tips.
While the app offers the best experience, you can book ridesthrough our website on a computer or other devices. For assistance, email contact@support.coastalrides.ca.

Drivers can accommodate short detours of up to a few minutes. If the detour adds more than 3-8 minutes or requires significant extra distance, please book a separate trip. Additional stops are charged at a minimum of $0.35 per minute and $2.50 per kilometre, with higher rates for larger vehicles. Detours are not allowed on pooled rides.

Yes. Drivers provide rides using their own personal vehicles, which must meet commercial safety inspection standards. There are also opportunities to become a staff driver using a Coastal Rides vehicle, please check the Drive With Us page for current job posts.
All vehicles must pass commercial inspections every 6 to 12 months and meet all safety standards required by BC regulations.
Drivers have flexible schedules and can choose when they are available to accept rides.
Payments are processed automatically through Coastal Rides, and drivers receive payouts regularly based on completed rides, tips, and commissions.
Coastal Rides is licensed to operate anywhere in British Columbia.

You are responsible for your vehicle inspection, license requirements, and criminal record check fees. You can receive $200 of your startup costs reimbursed once you complete your first 10 trips.

You can choose whether your business pays for rides or whether riders pay individually. If your business is covering fares, we’ll create a billing account with a deposit requirement starting at $500.
We can provide you with a unique service code to share with your users for easy access. Alternatively, we can manage ride access entirely on your behalf.
All Coastal Rides drivers use insured vehicles, have valid commercial licenses, pass criminal background checks, and undergo commercial vehicle inspections.
Our on-demand model allows your business to scale service as needed, often at a lower cost than traditional fixed-vehicle contracts. Pricing is typically lower than standard ride rates for specialized business services.
